The DuPont Company was 200 years old on July 19, 2002, making it one of the oldest surviving companies in the world.
DuPont's long association with Australia dates back to the early 1900's, with what was arguably among the best-known products of the day, the fast drying motor vehicle lacquer "Duco". The invention of nylon by DuPont in the late 1930's brought new industries into being in Australia, and Lycra® became a famous name among our sports people from the 1960's.
Now in its 3rd Century, DuPont is using biotechnology as one of a number of tools to develop critical improvements in nutrition, health and the quality of the environment. DuPont has made a major investment in biotechnology, with the acquisition of two companies well known in Australia, Pioneer Hi-bred International and Protein Technologies International.
In the face of constant change, innovation and discovery, our core values have remained constant: commitment to safety, health and the environment; integrity and high ethical standards; and treating people with fairness and respect.
DuPont is a science company, delivering science-based solutions that make a difference in people's lives in food and nutrition; health care; apparel; home and construction; electronics; and transportation. Founded in 1802, the company operates in 70 countries and has 70,000 employees.
